More news on The Lost Blonde feature film to follow soon. 2018: THE YEAR OF THE LOST BLONDE “I was sixteen when I first saw Hollywood in the Summer of 1938. I remember the all-night drive across the desert and crossing the California state line the next morning. It was the Fourth of July, a significant date in American history and certainly in my life.” Veronica Lake 2018 marks the 80th anniversary of Veronica Lake's arrival in Hollywood and the start of her meteoric film career. Within two years, she was an international movie star and the number one female at the box office, before she walked away from Hollywood for good in the early 1950s. Following the success of recent films about classic Hollywood actresses Gloria Grahame, Bette Davis and Joan Crawford, Little Dude Films believes the time is right for Veronica Lake’s star to shine again, through The Lost Blonde, our feature film about her life, which we plan to make this year. The script draws upon Veronica’s own reminiscences about her life and those of the co-writer of her autobiography, Donald Bain, who befriended her in her last years and sadly died last October. Little Dude Films has been joined by experienced producer Tessa Beazley (Red Riding, Hector, Dead Cool) for the feature and we will be keeping you up to date on developments with the project over the coming weeks and months. Many thanks again to Clara Paget, James Butler and everyone else who helped make it happen. A great team effort. Little Dude Films will be focussing all of its efforts in 2018 on developing and producing The Lost Blonde feature film. If anyone is interested in supporting the film, please contact us on info@littledudefilms.com DONALD BAIN R.I.P. Donald Bain, my American co-author on The Lost Blonde feature film script, about the life of Veronica Lake, has sadly died. He is perhaps best known for writing the Murder, She Wrote books. Don, who co-wrote Veronica Lake's autobiography with her and befriended her in her last years, was a true gentleman, a lovely man, a fine writer and wonderful to work with. My thoughts go out to his friends and family at this time. His passing makes me even more determined to make the feature film, for him as well as for Veronica; two greats who left us too soon. I treasure my time working with Don and will dedicate The Lost Blonde to his memory. Ian Beaumont, Little Dude Films FROM BONNY TO CONNIE
Leading British actress and model Clara Paget is playing Veronica Lake in a promotional teaser/trailer for The Lost Blonde, Little Dude Films’ proposed feature about the life of the 1940s Hollywood icon. The role follows Clara’s highly regarded appearance as pirate Anne Bonny in Black Sails, the popular Starz! distributed TV pirate drama, which concluded its fourth and final series earlier this year. Little Dude Films’ director and the project’s writer and producer, Ian Beaumont says: “We’re thrilled to have Clara Paget on board to play Veronica Lake in The Lost Blonde teaser/trailer. Not only is Clara a great actress; she also bears a striking resemblance to Veronica Lake in her Hollywood heyday. “With the current welcome and popular trend for female led dramas, we are hopeful that the teaser/trailer and Clara’s performance in it will attract the support and investment we need to make a feature film about one of Hollywood’s most iconic and mysterious actresses.” The teaser/trailer is being filmed in London in October, with James Butler directing and a top notch crew. The Lost Blonde feature film script has been co-written by Ian Beaumont and US writer Donald Bain, who co-wrote Veronica Lake’s autobiography with her and befriended her in her last years. Don is best known for writing the Murder, She Wrote books. Commenting on the creative collaboration with Ian Beaumont, Donald Bain says: "Ian's vision of a feature film based upon the saga of Veronica Lake, focusing both on her days as a Hollywood star and her tumultuous post-Hollywood life, is inspired as well as sensitive and insightful. Veronica and I were friends and I treasure working with him on bringing her story to the big screen." The film, which is based in part on a true story, is a drama about a young British soldier in the Second World War, who falls in love with the wife of his sergeant, with tragic and unforeseen consequences. The Final Leaves Of Winter was originally planned as a short film and has already been partially shot with that in mind. However, the overwhelmingly positive response to the film has led to the decision to make it into a full length feature. The film will be completed later this year, with a planned 2014 release date, subject to distribution.
